Last Saturday, 11 ringers from across the branch got together in Pitcombe to take the Association of Ringing Teachers (ART) course on teaching bell handling.
Well done to everyone who took part – and special thanks to Emma for organising this alongside Claire from ART (https://bellringing.org/).
We’re looking forward to training up the new recruits to ringing!

St. Peter’s at West Lydford needs to raise £12,000 for essential maintenance work to keep the bells ringing.
Already, 5 of our 44 towers are now unringable and we’d love for St. Peter’s to keep ringing for the community as it has done since Elizabethan times.
You can donate by following this link: Help raise £12,000 for St. Peter’s, West Lydford (via JustGiving)
Plus you can visit St. Peter’s on Saturday 21st March for their Tower Open Day (starting 10am).
The bells will be rung from 10.00-10.45.
From then, the tower will be open to the public and you can go up and see the bells themselves – the oldest from the 1580s.
There will be tea/coffee and bacon butties.
And you can make a donation to support the maintenance.
Thank you for any support you can provide!

Don’t forget to join the Branch Practice at Castle Cary this Saturday (21st) at 2.30pm!
New ringers and experienced ringers are both welcome.

The Great Cary Branch Ring
17th May is the national “Bell Sunday” celebration.
To mark this event, we are discussing an attempt to ring in every Cary Branch tower that Sunday.
44 Towers. 237 Bells. 93 Tons of Heavy Metal. 700 Yards of Sound Bow.
So, we will need all the ringers we can find!
New ringers. Experienced ringers. Occasional ringers. Regular ringers. We will need YOU!
We will divide into teams to cover each area of the branch.
It will be a fantastic day out visiting multiple towers and a great way to celebrate our communities.
KEEP THIS DAY FREE AND LOOK OUT FOR MORE DETAILS 😃

Join the St. Peter’s Open Day at West Lydford on 21st March from 10.00-12.00.
There will be ringing from 10.00-10.45 and then the tower will be open to visitors.
Plus, from 10.30 there will be tea, coffee, and bacon butties!
It’s a beautiful spot with some heritage bells to ring too.
Donations will go towards some critical maintenance required on the bells – so a big turnout will be very much appreciated.
See you there!
