Our eleven branches are all active, despite the very rural and sparsely populated nature of some of them.

Visitors are warmly welcome and details of our practices and meetings can be found by date in the What’s on listing and on the Towers and Branches pages.

Please use our tower contacts if you would like to check local details or make specific arrangements such as for outings. Most towers ring for Sunday services, sometimes arranged on a rota basis with others nearby, and ringing at all levels is encouraged.

The Association continues to flourish with the goodwill, enthusiasm and support of its members in promoting the art of change ringing throughout the Diocese which in 2009 celebrated the 1100th anniversary of its foundation.

Roger Gay

I am sorry to tell you that Roger passed away yesterday evening. Roger learned to ring at Hinton Blewett in January 1956. He went to Birmingham University in October 1956 and was there for five years, after which he went to Shebbear College in Devon and then back to Somerset to teach at King Edward’s School in Bath. He rang at Midsomer Norton and then in Wells, where he was for a while ringing master of the combined Wells band. He was also tower captain at Wookey, where he taught many learners. In retirement Roger and Judy moved to Olney in Buckinghamshire to be nearer her family, and they rang there.
